Fresh fruit and vegetable juices sold at weekend markets outside Johannesburg. A product with no marketing budget, no app, and no investment — that still found product-market fit through observation, iteration, and a shot glass.
In 2018, the Johannesburg market for healthy, preservative-free juice was almost nonexistent — particularly in communities outside the metropolitan core. Commercial juices were loaded with refined sugars. Fresh alternatives were either unavailable or inaccessible to people with disposable income who genuinely wanted healthier options.
"The fruit and vegetable juice category had not yet entered mainstream consciousness in South Africa. We were early — and in a market with real demand and real spending power."
Every decision we made at The Juice Bar maps to a PM principle — without us knowing the frameworks at the time. This is the product story in PM language.
"Repeat customers returned every weekend. Some bought multiple bottles to stock at home. That is product-market fit — the thing WealthSpaces never achieved."
Of three products built, The Juice Bar was the only one where users came back. No app. No investment. No marketing budget. Just a real problem, a specific user, a product that delivered, and the discipline to iterate based on what the market was actually telling us.
